Is there a way to get a resolution higher than 1280 x 720? xrandr shows only that and lower GhostBSD-24.10.1-XFCE.iso Thanks in advance

Appropriate uses:

• one-off data copy
• reading backups
• inspecting disks from Linux systems
• emergency recovery

What this is not for

Inappropriate uses:

• production storage
• long-term writable mounts
• anything requiring crash safety
• performance-sensitive workloads

So, if I understand this, it looks like a choice has to be made concerning which system to commit to:
#1) Linux as I know it
#2) using BSD with the above limitations concerning compatibilty issues with Linux
or
#3) utransferring everything to BSD as a daily driver and leaving Linux.
Do I have this correctly?

I was able to copy all my files saved on MX-Linux (pictures, docs, music, etc) to a USB and then copy-paste them into my GhostBSD folders using the file manager, even though on Linux they were saved in EXT3 and on GhostBSD they are ZFS. I have long since wiped away Linux as eagerly as I previously wiped away Microslop Windows years before. See here.

Since all my files are EXT4, I wonmder if it would be as easy. Did you use CAJA for the transfers? I guess I will have to experiment more 🙂 There are concerns.
For instance, with the lack of other disros of a DE-oriented BSD, how long will this one live? Support looks good for now.

It should work in MATE as well as it did for me using Thunar (Xfce).

Thanks for this thread with all the gory details. I now know why I have to use FAT32 to share files on my multiple boot systems with FreeBSD and Linux (ext4 based).

On a slight tangent I have yet to try but I'm guessing btrfs can not be mounted or safely mounted from FreeBSD ?

Now using GhostBSD-25.02-R14.3p2 and I still have the issue.
Main arch system shows

Thank you for your feedback.

What you will find is that xconfig generates a generic configuration file by default.
ghostbsd/xconfigtree/master/cardDetect

Feel free to modify, test, and refine the default configuration as needed to determine a better default.

Also, submitting a bug request will work too if you are unable to determine a better default.

I found /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-amdgpu.conf.
Do I paste the conttents of (ghostbsd/xconfigtree/master/cardDetect)
into it? I'm not sure how to proceed.

Oh you have Nvidia card.... You may need to install the FreeBSD Nvidia drivers. You could also disable the discrete GPU and use the Radeon R7 which is better supported in all the free *nixs.

Similar situation here.
I transfer files from my Linux install to My Ghost install with sftp. You can use sftp with caja .
This bypasses any issues with mounting a filesystem to access the contents.
I had the same issue going from Windows to Linux. I used samba years ago, same concept, format of file system not involved,

Hmmm...this info throws a huge wrench in my plans. Under my Linux installs, I symlink shared user folders (documents, images, etc.) on a separate data partition formatted as ext4 to share among all installs. Maybe GhostBSD will not work for me. I'm not leaving Linux and I'm not having duplicate files under GhostBSD.
