KDE not launching on GhostBSD – defaults back to MATE after LightDM selection

Hi everyone,
I’m new here, so please excuse me if I’m missing something obvious.

I’m having an issue trying to run KDE Plasma on GhostBSD.

I installed KDE using Software Station, and the installation completed without any errors. After logging out, I selected KDE Plasma (X11) from the LightDM session menu.

However, when I try to log in:

The KDE session fails to launch
It automatically defaults back to MATE
No error message is shown

MATE works fine, but KDE doesn’t start at all.

Has anyone been able to get KDE working on GhostBSD?
Are there any additional steps required after installing it from Software Station?

Please let me know if there are any logs I should check or information I should provide.

Try editing your .xinitrc file and putting in

exec $1

Then comment out the exec mate-session entry
