Hello (again) GhostBSD Community,
My name is Jose Antonio Vega Ruiz, and I would like to introduce myself as well as express my interest in contributing to GhostBSD, particularly in the areas of security, secure software development, and hardening.
About Me: I am a Technical Lead and Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence, with 26 years’ experience in IT, notably in Java, SpringBoot, Python, and .NET Core. My expertise includes cybersecurity, DevSecOps, secure SDLC, incident response, and implementation of international standards like ISO-27001:2022. I have an extensive background in financial applications, data science, and AI/ML, having led critical projects in the banking and telecommunications domains and spearheaded tech talks on malware analysis.
Relevant Experience & Skills:
- Security: ISO 27001:2022 Auditor, Secure Software Development, Cybersecurity, Incident Management, DevSecOps, Blockchain/Cryptography, Secure Cloud Architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP), and Data Engineering.
- Development: Java (Spring Boot), Python, C#, .NET Core, REST APIs, Microservices, Angular, React, Node.js, and Oracle.
- OS & Infrastructure: Strong Unix/Linux background, Kubernetes/Docker, CI/CD, Cloud Design Patterns, and production support (L2/L3).
- Certifications: Multiple Oracle, Microsoft, and security certifications, including ITIL and VMware Spring Professional.
- AI/ML: Doctorate in AI (in progress), with postgraduate achievements from MIT and Purdue.
What I’d Like To Do: I am keen to contribute by:
- Auditing current GhostBSD builds and tools for security vulnerabilities and suggesting hardening improvements.
- Assisting with documentation and best practices for secure installation/configuration and DevSecOps pipelines.
- Participating in or initiating threat modeling, incident response procedures, and integrating secure coding standards.
- Collaborating around automation or scripts for vulnerability assessment and monitoring.
- Exploring the integration of AI-based approaches to system anomaly detection if of interest.
I would be grateful for your advice on where my experience could be most beneficial, and would love to connect with maintainers or security-focused contributors to discuss ideas and coordinate efforts.
Feel free to reach out to me here or via email at joseantonio.vegaruiz@gmail.com.
Looking forward to contributing and collaborating!
Best regards, Jose Antonio Vega Ruiz
