I am very new to bsd. My ghostbsd is a new install.

Because I am a Linyx user, a first look for terminal to adjust things.
Now I want to open a terminal. But that does not work.
Same for how to open software app.
Does a manual for this exist?

My guess is MATE,
I found a zsh terminal .
Found software app, but cannot find how to update QT. pkg_add is not recognized as a command by zsh.

tuxedotje Do you mean install qt or update qt? If you want to update GhostBSD you shouldn't do it by command line. Wait for updates and upgrades with the update station. Update station will notify you automatically when updates are available.
pkg_add doesn't work on GhostBSD
You should use
pkg install name_of_package

otter-browser needs a new version of Qt (5 15 18).
pkg install does not find that

Interesting. I don't seem to have that problem. I installed otter-browser and it seems to run without any errors. Can you post the output of the command

Thanks for your answer.
Did the install. otter browser is installed. But Incompatible QT library error: Executable 'otter-browser requires Qt 5.15.18 found Qt 5.15.17
Did you write that I have to wait for QT 5.15.18 until that is in the update station?

tuxedotje If your system is still at patch level 2 (14.3-RELEASE-p2) then you'll want to update it to the latest patch level which is currently p4.

The output of 'uname -a' will give you the patch level, i.e. for patch level 4:

$ uname -a
$ 14.3-RELEASE-p4 FreeBSD <trimmed for easy reading>

To update use the 'Update Station', i.e. the menu navigation for Mate is System, Administration, Update Station.

After the update completes re-boot the system and with any luck that will correct the Qt version issue.

Yes. But I don't understand why I seem to have the updated version and you don't. I can use otter-browser without problems. Find update-station on your mate menu and run it to see if you have any updates. Perhaps you need to be on the latest repository
