I think some intel igpus are incompatible with the intel driver that the conf text doc wants to load
the work around is supposed to be using modesetting instead of intel as the driver but that doesn't really work on ghostBSD for some reason
If you really need compositing though i'd recommend picom for mate you can grab the sample conf file from the picom github page edit the options in that rename it to picom.conf and then put in your .config folder in home directory then start picom
