Learning ports and perhaps personal repository

I try to learn more about GhostBSD ports. I took an external SSD and installed GhostBSD on it. This SSD is now working on a fast gaming PC with much RAM and fast AMD CPU. It works fine, I only needed to plugin an old USB-Wifi-Stck, because GhostBSD did not recognize the modern internal wifi.
For learning, this pc is just my little "laboratory", I will build several packages on my own and try to get this machine updated with it.
Now I have another question: Is it possible to prevent a personal reository, maybe in a jail, for my Intel Thinkpad? Can I get binary packages for it to download or scp with ssh?.
I am curious to learn more about ports.

Today I have much time and I did the following so far:
With git I insalled the ports.
Next I installed Portmaster to have an update tool.
With Portmaster -L I listed all packages able to update.
Portmaster -a is now updating 57 packages (plus dependecies ?).
To be a little bit faster, I checked off all documentations of the packages. The machine is building 3 hours now and going on. Maybe because the first git pull is a clean ports tree. I don't know if I should do
# make clean
after finishing or let all be as it is to be faster the next time. I'm curious, how long the whole update will last.

Maybe I could write my own make config to only build packages for AMD64 and x86/64 the next time. Arm and other architectures are not needed.

Okay, after 3 hours 15 minutes all was build and installed. The system rebooted without problems. To save little time I used a very small make.conf with only these entries:
OPTIONS_UNSET= CUPS NLS DOCS EXAMPLES
This worked fine.
I learned much today and next lesson will be, how to make a local repository for my Thinkpad. Th fast PC shall build everything (Updates and specific Apps) and provide packages zu install on my laptop.
I know that it is easier to use the Update station. I will do this for interest and learning.

The last step was to install a repo server. I changed to a VM on my Windows machine and installed GhostBSD. Also git etc. like above descibed.
I followed this guide from the FreeBSD forum:

Now Portmaster (and some scripts) build all packages and make a link to the web server. The repo server (VM) has exactly the same packages as my Laptop and provides new packages, built from ports.
The VM is currently building all installed packages new from the ports collection, if there is an update. This will last some hours. After the finish, I can update my Laptop with fresh packages from there.
Most important then is a backup of the VM.

I now like to know, how to get kernel updates. This is GhostBSD, so better not run
# freebsd-update fetch install ?
I don't know. Any help is appreciated.
