Qt/KDE Apps in Xfce

I wouldn't use many KDE apps on my Xfce desktop, but are they compatible or would trying out KMail, for example, create any problems or install a huge batch of Qt stuff? Just curious . Some of the KDE applications seem to be better than some of their GTK counterparts here and there.

Robin You can install Qt applications without any significant issues after installing GhostBSD. Installing Qt apps can incur a huge batch of dependencies.

Adding Qt applications by default to GhostBSD increases memory requirements of the installer, increases transfer costs, and frustrates users seeking a consistent look and feel. Even transitioning from GTK3 to GTK4 can be visually disruptive.

"Disruption" seems inevitable anyway as software keeps "upping the ante," so to speak. GTK-3 to GTK-4 and all that. I was thinking about playing with LXQt, but trying it out on my old Linux distro was confusing and bewildering. I can only imagine that KDE is even worse, except for big resource consumption.

There is some Qt stuff in "stock" GhostBSD anyway, but I imagine mixing the two complicates things too much.

It ultimately comes down to the tradeoffs you’re willing to make. For example, installing additional software can lead to longer update times and a more congested system.
