Looking for correct nvidia driver install

The previous question shown below gave me all the possible nvidia drivers available but I must have one of them already installed since my video is working. I tried nvidia-smi and modinfo nvidia |grep ^version` but just get command not found.

Did a search on google, and the Nvidia site points to a 340 series driver. Don't download from nvidia, just grab the 340 from GhostBSD's repository. If you use the Software Station, it should also give you the matching parts, like the drm_kmod for that driver.

I was thinking about getting the driver, but I thought you could just easily download & install it.

First post here. Long time Debian user, but Debian sometimes get a bit boring. So I am having a look into GhostBSD.
GhostBSD-25.02-R14.3p2-XFCE installation on separate SSD here was not difficult. But doing the upgrade to 26.1-R15.0p2-XFCE showed up some problems.

1st - A fresh installation with the iso on a Ventoy stick failed, because it seems, that 26.1-R15.0p2 is not getting along with Ventoy.

2nd - And the reason for my post. The upgrade 25 > 26 resulted in a black screen. Have a Nvidia GT 1030 here and the hint pkg upgrade -fmentioned in ghostbsd/issues355 resulted in the re installation of a lot of packages, but the black screen stayed.
Finally I got Xfce working again by manually installing nvidia-driver-580, but to find, that this package is available was difficult for me as a newbie. Was missing nvidia-detect a bit.

Yeah, it's weird using the 580 drivers with the nvidia-settings for 595 but it works, so I can't complain too much. I'm running a GTX 1050 GPU in my laptop. Also a long time Debian (and Ubuntu) user. This laptop also runs Lubuntu, Win11 and FydeOS... crazy but it all works. 8^D
