Screen/Windows object sizes.

Environment: Lenovo 460 ThinkPad, 8G memory. GhostBSD 25.01-R14.2p1, all available updates applied.

Problem: The objects on the screen/windows are too large or to small.

In >System>Preferences>Hardware>Displays the 'Scaling' choices are 'autodetect', 100% and 200#.
'Autodetect' and 100% produce very small objects on the screen. presentation is terrible and text is so small it is hardly readable....

200% the objects are to large. The bottom portion of windows are off the bottom of the screen and buttons (OK, Close, etc) cannot be accessed.
The desktop is unusable......

If the scaling between 100% and 200% is linear I think a scaling figure of 160-170% would make the desktop workable.

Any suggestions, fixes, brilliant ideas?????

It sounds like your display scaling options are too limited for your screen resolution. Unfortunately, the MATE desktop (used in GhostBSD) only provides fixed scaling options like 100% and 200%, and lacks fine-grained scaling control. Here is one possible workaround.

Set DPI Manually

You can manually set a more comfortable DPI for fonts (and indirectly for UI elements):

Go to:
System > Preferences > Look and Feel > Appearance
Click the Fonts tab.
At the bottom, check Details.
Change the DPI value from the default (usually 96) to something like 144 or 160.

This can help scale text and some UI elements more proportionally without switching to 200%.

Woops, problem was that because of the 'scaling' problem I could not see the 'Details' button........

Set 'scaling' to 100% and could access 'Details' and set the 'DPI' value to 144.

Objects and text displayed are now more reasonably sized. This reply is from GhostBSD.

I will experiment some more.
