How to turn off update notifications?

I want to turn off the update notifications that are sometimes shown by the Update Station once an update becomes available. I find them annoying, and I want to manually check for updates whenever I feel like it. Does anybody know how I can achieve this?

The best way to resolve this is to submit a feature request to have the option added to update station.

In GhostBSD (MATE), visit the Startup Applications Preferences to modify your system according to your preferences.

In GhostBSD-XFCE, Session and Startup, Application Autostart tab will enable the same startup customization.

This modification may or may not persist across future updates. This modification will also enable forgetting about updating and leave your system in a potentially vulnerable state.

It would be nice to have deferred timing, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc... please consider adding an enhancement to the project.
