Fail to boot

Hi I am new to GhostBSD before I tried to boot GhostBSD with my USB device but it keeps rebooting, and I wonder what am I doing wrong ? Should do something specific ? and one last question how is GhostBSD working on ASUS Zenbook UX3405 MA latest laptops ? I would highly appreciate some tips and tricks.

Sounds like a kernel panic.

It's hard to say without more information.

I have noticed that Secure Boot on newer machines will perform this kind of blind refusal to boot and resulting reboot.

$2 says it's Secure Boot, check out Official guides at Asus:

Hi I always before installing a OS or Distro disable fast boot and secure boot, could it be its just not compatible right now I did probe my laptop in Linux hardware,for GhostBSD and FreeBSD could there be other things that could trigger a refusal in my bios settings ?

I am curious how far things proceed with booting the USB as we haven't established that, yet.

If you're past the boot loader, recent FreeBSD/GitHub/Reddit forums suggest that;

You can probably test this by giving FreeBSD 15-CURRENT a spin.

Important note - `kldload i915kms` does not work if you have not done `kldload linuxkpi_video' before.

For GPUs that FreeBSD/GhostBSD does not yet support, using Linux is often the more practical option. While FreeBSD developers are taking a pragmatic approach by relying on Linux drivers as a short-term solution, the long-term goal should be to gradually replace LinuxKPI-dependent drivers with native FreeBSD drivers whenever possible.

Lack of Independence

Some Linux drivers require systemd or Linux-specific features that FreeBSD lacks. Porting them can introduce bugs or missing functionality.

Hi when I boot do see the GhostBSD men 1a and when I then choose option either 1 or 2 it always reboot and ends up in this Menu, I then tried boot options and choosing Safe mode I again end up with a reboot. so I do not really not know what to do ? later today I will try again to see if I did something rushed or skip something I did not noticed I should but right now I cannot come up with anything.

Hi again sorry for my late post so I tried earlier today, too install GhostBSD but I just keeps rebooting no matter I choose single user or multi user or safe mode, I also have to be very fast what I choose because there is count down, I also want to confirm I do disable fast boot I also disable Secure boot, I checked other setting in Bios but I cannot see what should be causing this constant reboot, I also will add that I used another USB stick and fresh download just to rule everything that might cause this. I can only think of one cause that my laptop is currently not compatible with GhostBSD, but I did probe my hardware in Linux hardware for GhostBSD and also FreeBSD. so I hope it will become compatible soon because I would really like to run BSD.

To run "Live" from a USB stick, GhostBSD loads entirely into RAM, which is why it needs at least 4GB of RAM to boot from a USB stick. I'm just guessing, but could that be part of the problem?

Hi not the issue I use a Corsair Voyager GTX who is pretty fast and has also 256 GB space the smaller I have is a Kingston 128 GB

Your video card device is currently unsupported on FreeBSD which is the underlying OS of GhostBSD.

When GhostBSD attempts to load the latest driver for your hardware, it does NOT include the correct drivers and it fails, significant enough to restart the system.
