Ungoogled-Chromium and Youtube

I'd rather not use Brave-browser on my GhostBSD installation, since I have to add all that linux-compatibility stuff just to get Brave installed. I even saw the dreaded name of systemd scroll by as it was unpacking! No way!

Plus, there's no way to update Brave once it's installed that way. I was happy enough with ungoogled-chromium, which is in the repositories and gets updated regularly. The only reason to install Brave was just to watch youtube videos. I can see embedded youtube stuff on other sites, but if I click on a link to one of Robonuggle's FreeBSD videos, I get the first 20 seconds of it and then it stops gets stuck.

I wish I could persude Robonuggle to use another site, like Rumble or Odessy, since Google has declared war on ad-blockers and any other software that resists or blocks Google's ambition to take over the world.

Robin Robonuggle was on Rumble and Odessy. I don't know if he still posts there, but he was on those platforms.

Understandably, Google declared war on ad-blockers. They make money with ads, and so are the content creators. I use ad-blocker, but I disable it for all content creators I rely on.

Robin Google Search, Gmail, and YouTube have become relics of the past, much like MySpace or ICQ. These days, they mostly serve to reveal your age.

ericbsd I tried this, but it was too complicated and getting stopped in the middle of a comedy video or so was most annoying, so I decided for a "ceasefire" with Google, but had to sacrifice Disney+, because tog. with Netflix, Patreon AND Youtube Premium, that was getting too expensive. Now it s the "holy triangle" of these three mentioned before...

I found Robonuggle on Rumble! He's a terrific "teacher" and advocate for FreeBSD and GhostBSD.

Tbh, I do kinda miss MySpace. Lol. Those were fun times.

I don't remember MySpace at all. My first "online presence" was Xanga.

The hosts file found in Software Station is quite effective. It makes ungoogled-chromium very "Brave-like," but without the cruft that Brave adds.
