I am using GhostBSD (latest, ports updated), bought a USB 3.0 wifi dongle, RTL8812AU. I have 2 problems.

it works fine, but the performance is dismal. It only connects to 2437 MHz, and speed is just 10Mbps. I have 5 Ghz as well. My home network is 350Mbps. Windows (gaming) gives me 150Mbps. MacBook I get the full speed at 350Mbps. So home network is fine. Is there anything I can do to boost it a little bit or connect to the 5Ghz?
if I unplug it and plug it again, it finds the device but can never get a carrier again. I had to reinstall and all is fine.

The RTL8812AU chipset is designed to work on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but the FreeBSD/ports driver for this chipset may not yet fully support the 5 GHz band or its high-speed modes. This can force the device into a legacy or fallback mode on the 2.4 GHz band with very limited throughput.

Support for certain wireless chipsets on FreeBSD (and by extension, GhostBSD) can lag behind what you’d see on Windows or macOS due to driver maturity. The RTL8812AU driver’s limited 5 GHz support and hotplug issues are known problems in many cases. I recommend:

Checking FreeBSD forums and mailing lists for any community patches or tips.
Considering alternative hardware if 5 GHz connectivity and robust hotplug behavior are critical to your setup.

Thanks for your time. it makes senses. Even Linux cannot find it, but there is a driver on GitHub, but i am lazy these days.
Well, I'll just have to find a supported chip with reasonable speed.

I feel comfortable using Ghost so Ill stay here. :-)
