Hi, I have found that by installing lsblk
via Software Station. I am then able to view the machines cdrom
as block device cd0
by passing lsblk
.
Then execute VLC media Player > Media > Open Disc > Disc Device (in this instance is) /dev/cd0
select play. Now audio cd plays and the sound is clear (good).
My question for you is, when I open Mate Terminal then pass groups username
there are three groups displayed on this machine currently, username
wheel
operator
. So how is playback allowed here when the user is not a member of the cdrom
group?
I ask this because on a specific Linux distribution I have used. You must have user belong to the cdrom
group. Otherwise no VLC audio playback nor cdrom imaging software is usable.
