Update

Post by hank2000 »

Hi Eric, Ghosts 8-)

well, my 6th attempt now running to install GhostBSD 10.1 XFCE after "crash updating" my system via OctoPkg and then loading stops at login or prior to!
only see two mouse cursors and a black screen, that s it.
Tried to reach console, but without success, so will try now to re-install (again), set up WiFi again and then will wait for alternatives to update, there should be some, right? ;)

it s a:
Asus eee netbook with sole installation of GhostBSD 10.1 XFCE (dual boot did not work, always caused a hang in installation after about half the way!

As it still is a "side project" for me AND still have a working 3.5 with XFCE, it s not that urgent but would love to have a full working system WITH intact updates some time.

best regards
Achim

Hi Eric

well, that recommendation to try 10.3 for more stability was a good one...
except for the dual boot system, tried 4 different ways to get it but not a chance on my Asus eeePC, everything else worked out fine so far.
I was even able to install my fave gftp and still everything incl. internet radio is running!
So with a full-disk-installation and two major updates done it works pretty fast and stable so far...
Great to have a recent testbed of GhostBSD again, together with my openSuse I m complete. :)

cheers from Austria

Hi Eric

well, it *seemed* easy enough, downloaded UNetbootin, extracted the i386 iso to an 16GB USb stick under OpenSuse and seemed to work, but on three machines:
1) Asus eeePC
2) Nokia booklet3G
3) HP Pavilion with AMD Turion

all I get is "Invalid or corrupt kernel image" and it tries to reboot again and again and again...?
wrong image, bad tool or something else?
will try with new download and Windows side on the Nokia...

best Achim
