Hi there!
After getting through most of my issues concerning GhostBSD, I still have trouble to get my Epson D120 running with CUPS and/or Gutenprint.
I tried everything from driver changes to permission changes and now with the D88 drivers of Gutenprint get the following message in CUPS administration:
"***Gutenprint 5.2.8 assertion found failed! file escp2-papers.c, line 149. Please report this bug!"
Can anyone tell me, what it is all about and what maybe to fix in this escp2-papers.c-file?
cheers
Hank

Re: Epson D120 and GhostBSD 3.5
Ok,
tried a lot of things and it looks like a driver problem with the gutenprint 5.2.8-drivers!
Right now I am downloading "levi" and may try again with this as a complete new installation or try to compile gutenprint-5.2.9.
we´ll see!

Hi Eric,
Your english sounds a bit strange today, but yes: I will let You know, how the new installation worked and til version 3.5RC1 I had no login-troubles at all, even german layouts work fine now, the message "at.iso not found" has no special meaning, so I just ignore it for the moment!

Re: Epson D120 and GhostBSD 3.5
ok, after two hours of installing and configuring I can say:
on a AMD Duron system with 1MB RAM and older Maxtor HDD:
1) first start with normal boot and multi-user status had a hang when getting the scsi-devices ready and screen info went thru without stopping!
started again in "safe mode" and was able to get into desktop, installer started and rebooted after installation.
2) had a moment of "freeze" at login, but after a few seconds could write password and login.
3) have to find out how to change screen resolution manually, as I only get 800x600 and no way found to change via graphic tool, as monitor presents no info for the tool
4) about the wifi manager: network still doesn´ t start automatically, has to be re-configured manually!
5) package installation and bxpkg work smoothly and well, so last topic: printer:
6) still same error in "escp2-papers.c, line 149"

Re: Epson D120 plus screen resolution and GhostBSD 3.5
Ok,
after trying a lot, it looks, like two issues remain, the rest works fine now!
1) the printer problem is still unsolved and with ports I only get another gutenprint5.2.8 version with the same bug.
will there be binaries for gutenprint5.2.9 soon?
2) I tried with graphical tool and manually in xorg.conf to change my resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 but it still starts with 800x600.
Where do I have to look to change this via konsole?
bye

Re: Epson D120 and GhostBSD 3.5
ok,
here is the last update on screen resolution prob:
it works now. I had to add the horizontal and vertical parameter for my monitor and I used a wrong subsction in Xorg.conf.

Resolved: Epson D120 and GhostBSD 3.5
Hi everyone,
after the "resolution issue" I managed now to solve the "printer issue" as well:
I compiled the new gutenprint version 5.2.9 and changed the output format from ´A4´ to ´letter´ again and it finally worked for the Cups testpage!
No weired system symbols anymore, real pics and characters! wuhu!
the other open issues will be put under my second threat "hurray" - but ### happy, the printing now works!
cheers
