[SOLVED] Unable to get Canon Pixma TS-8151 to Print

Post by swarfendor437 »

There is no listed driver for this printer under Canon, so chose Generic Post Script option. Made myself allowed to use Printer but each time Test Print is launched it adds a sequential number to the Printer:

Ironically, I can get the Scanner function working without a glitch in XSane!

Hello. Welcome to GhostBSD.

https://docs.freebsd.org/en/articles/cups/

Try the above link. If you have questions try the forum here or our telegram channel.

Access the cups website and add your printer in the webpage.

http://localhost:631/

GhostBSD should be all set up to use cups out of the box

I've solved the missing printer driver issue by installing Gutenprint, but when attempting to print a test page it states it is sending the job, shows 52% complete in CUPS, then disappears. I've made sure that I am listed as an allowed user and set to Server Default. This is the 'same' named driver as when installed in GNU/Linux, TS8000 Series.

Well today I tried from System | Administration | Print Settings. Deleted the Printer, added it, Test page started to bring the printer into life but then it stopped half-way. This is a deal breaker for me - one of the reasons why I dropped Artix Linux. Now I have discovered Gutenprint (or rediscovered!) I might give Artix another spin.

Well, decided to try once more and solved it. Had to use IPP everywhere in CUPS after selecting discovered network printers!
