Portable Wifi

First question: Hello, I have a portable wifi (Huawei N14036) and am wondering if the drivers for this unit are written into the Ghostbsd kernel (3.1 gnome2) ? Upon booting to the desktop from disc, no connection was recognised.

Second question: Is the Ghostbsd 3.1 gnome2, using the gnome network manager? From my exploration of the forums networking posts, it would "appear" not? Maybe someone would mind clarify this for me? Many other distro have now utilized the "gnome network manager" into their distro due to the huge amount of people now going portable, eg: Salix

Third question: Feedback re my hardware: Samsung Q328 intel quad core with duel Intel/Nividia Optimus Chipset booted to desktop without problems and the correct resolution (wide screen). If you wish I can fwd full hardware details, please advise.

Thankyou.

You kldload the drivers and if it show up in from ifconfig command like

Code: Select all

run0: flags=8a43<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,ALLMULTI,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 2290
	ether 00:22:75:40:bc:d1
	nd6 options=29<PERFORMNUD,IFDISABLED,AUTO_LINKLOCAL>
media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect mode 11g
	status: associated
that mean you have your drivers.

GhostBSD is not GNU/Linux system and gnome network manager is for Linux only, but we are starting to develop or own network manager wish will be in GhostBSD 4.0.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I will follow <You kldload the drivers and if it show up in from ifconfig command like> and see what comes as result. With regard to <gnome network manager>, I thought maybe it has been ported to BSD? It would be in keeping though for BSD to develop their own, as you have stated. Thanks again!
