Modern Grub2 boot loader only available on ZFS?

Post by Prince »

That was disappointing to hear. Is the reason is because it was compiled only on ZFS? UFS is more desktop practical.

Hi Prince!

You're referring to the 10.3 installer, right? In that case you're not out of luck: It is possible and in fact even the standard way of installing GhostBSD! It's a wrong text string in the installer and should read "needed for ZFS" instead of "ZFS needed"! That will be fixed in 11.0.

And you're not alone with the opinion that UFS is more fit for desktop systems. As a person who prefers ZFS for desktops, too, I argued with ASX about it and while I would still go with ZFS, I can understand the points he made.
