Eh it took me a while, but if you could test this new iso it could help use a lot. ftp://ghostbsd.org/pub/GhostBSD/release ... PREALPHA3/

It is a little bit better ... here are the results : booting with usb stick

I cant choose with the mouse (graphic mode on !)
-Xorg auto => detecting Intel => blank screen but the screen stay on (it doesn't auto turn off because no signal)
-Vesa =>blank screen with the mouse cursor and i can move the cursor
-scfb => blank
-Intel => idem
-Amd radeon => idem

If I choose failsafe vesa mode, it look like rebooting and I have to choose again Xorg, Vesa .... only Vesa mode return something looking like GhostBSD ... :)
... only the wallpaper + the mouse cursor ... that's it maybe i didn't wait enought ... 2 minutes maybe

I have two Dell Optiplex 755 computers. You MUST download the graphics driver from the nvidia web site. or in /usr/ports build the nvidia-driver it will download the 376.26 nvidia driver for you. The 755s' have all Intel chips and FreeBSD i915kms driver will NOT work !! The driver in TrueOS works fine as does NetBSD but FreeBSD's i915kms just won't work!! I tried to contact TrueOS commiters to find out the difference but they don't seem to want to talk to us mere humans, so........!

TrueOS's little "secret" (well, not really ;)) is that they base their system on FreeBSD 12-CURRENT for exactly this reason: Most recent drivers. They also tend to import even hotter stuff and play with it, sometimes before it even goes into HEAD (the development branch of FreeBSD that currently holds 12-CURRENT). In theory GhostBSD could do this, too. In practice we're a really tiny team compared to TrueOS and we don't have anybody who'd do such things.

Regarding the official releases of FreeBSD you're out of luck until at least 11.1 if it doesn't work on 11.0's graphics stack. What you could do is try out to install FreeBSD 11.0 and update to the STABLE branch which holds newer code (which will eventually become 11.1) but is better tested (and of course less recent) then CURRENT. If this helps and more cases like this show up, we might need to discuss if we can somehow provide special ISOs built agains STABLE now and then for advanced users. Packages and everything would work on such a release, too, however people using this would have to take care of their base system themselves (watch the SAs that FreeBSD publishes and rebuild the system from source in such a case).
