Or do I need to wipe the hard disk/slice?
I'm trying to avoid a data restoration from backup

Re: upgrade from trueOS 12.current to ghostBSD?
you should be able to ping your /etc/pkg/TrueOS*.conf to http://pkg.ghostbsd.org/GhostBSD-18/amd64/ports/latest/ and http://pkg.ghostbsd.org/GhostBSD-18/amd64/base/latest/ and install all pkg from https://github.com/ghostbsd/ghostbsd-bu ... kages/mate
Re: upgrade from trueOS 12.current to ghostBSD?

Did I miss an option in the installer?
