Re: How to increase kernel messages resolution?

Hi kraileth, I followed your suggestion, carefully read "man 4 vt", put 'kern.vt.fb.default_mode=1024x768"' in /boot/loader.conf, but it didn't work. "vidcontrol -i mode" prints only the header line. "dmesg | grep error" gives back "module_register_init: MOD_...

Re: BSD Randomly Halts on Boot

I don't see this behavior with 10.3 on the same machine. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Should I take this issue to the FreeBSD forum? Yes. That's still fairly early in the boot process while the kernel detects the hardware. GhostBSD runs a unmodified FreeBSD kernel and thus you should hit exa...

Re: Edit MATE menu?

Oops, this has been quite long-standing without any answer... :( I probably missed it because it was in the wrong section of the forums, so I moved it here now. About the problem: For me editing the menu works - not as I would have imagined, but at least at all. I've successfully disabled and re-ena...

Re: 10.3 slow mouse

I've checked it on MATE as well and can confirm that it works as it should. Tested it with GhostBSD 11.1 / MATE 1.18.

If it's still not working for you, please give us a bit more detail on what hardware you are using.

Re: GhostBSD tiling spin

Here are the first two ports, BTW. To make it easier to look at them, I'll paste the main content of both Makefiles here. Would be nice if somebody could take a look and if we could eventually import them (they are probably not of much use on their own, but the two ports will satisfy the dependencie...

Re: GhostBSD tiling spin

As long as you support and maintain the spin, I see the no problem with that. Sure, as soon as a working package for the WM is available, I'll roll an image and if I'm happy with it upload it somewhere as an unofficial spin. Then anybody who's interested can try it out. Should I find that it works ...

GhostBSD tiling spin

In the past GhostBSD has supported more spins before the decision was made to concentrate on MATE and Xfce. However ideas like bringing back a GNOME spin have been around for a while and users have reported that there's interest in an even lighter edition of GhostBSD, preferably with just a WM insta...

Re: How to increase kernel messages resolution?

Hi giocitta! I was pretty sure that this is a boot-time tunable but didn't remember where I read it off the top of my head. But I found it: man 4 vt is what holds the information that you are looking for. Basically you should try to set kern.vt.fb.default_mode to a higher resolution in /boot/loader....

Testing 11.1-BETA1

Took the chance at the weekend to do a little testing: I backed up data and did test installations of GhostBSD on several machines. Almost everything worked well. Here's just two things that I encountered for now: 1. On one machine with Intel graphics SLiM (well, actually X11) wouldn't start. I logg...

Re: Nearly perfect for me, but..

Hi amtrakuk, we're having a little "chicken and egg" problem here: FreeBSD is an excellent server operating system ! When it comes to the desktop, it's admittedly lacking behind quite a bit. We're trying to improve things in this regard. There's TrueOS (formerly PC-BSD) which aims at provi...
