The old pkg is no longer used by the upstream FreeBSD - another reason to use a more up to date system.
Edit: There were a great many changes to the way the system operated when version 10 of FreeBSD came out.

Re: How to install openvpn on GhostBSD
Take a look here,
https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO88 ... eless.html
(GhostBSD did have a network manager, but I think there may have been a problem with it, & believe it is being worked upon.)

Re: GhostBSD 10.1 release, is not compatible with FreeBSD 10
PC-BSD has many people working on it, GhostBSD only has, I think, about two people doing the actual work.

Re: How to install openvpn on GhostBSD
Using the latest version of an O/S is always 'recommended practice' to keep vulnerabilities at bay. (2.5 is quite old & uses a different packaging system to that used now.) As far as I know, openvpn is not included software, so will have to be installed by yourself. (The old way is pkg_add openv...

Re: Compatibility
Welcome aboard.
The BSDs aren't gaming O/Ses, having said that, they can have Linux compatibility, so can run games that work on Linux.
Probably best you stick with 'unix like' systems, (though Haiku & MenuetOS might also interest you).

Re: base.iso request
Ah, no I didn't realise this was only visible to devs & mods. :) My being a 'mod' came about awhile ago, I was just an interested passer by at that time, being heavily involved with Linux, & offered to help if I could, as I thought the project had merit. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill...
