Re: Problems with installation and VESA
i had basically two problems: 1) "gpart add -s 37944M - t freebsd-ufs -i 1 /dev/ada0s4 ERROR" no installation at all 2) "Since video card is an AGP Ati radeon, card is not supported". -> radeonkms.ko depends on drmn.ko that is not present in /boot/kernel (there is drm2.ko,instead...

About upgrading the system... a little question.
Hi everybody! :) In GhostBSD FAQ wiki pages, about upgrading the system there is: How should I update GhostBSD to latest FreeBSD updates? GhostBSD supports freebsd-update command line to update the FreeBSD base system. freebsd-update fetch install You see, this is an "active" method: I dec...

Re: Some more packages in vanilla distro I'd like...
Thank you! :) About boot splash screen, if you think could be useful, you could consider a script I wrote for FreeBSD, to use whichever image with whichever resolution as splash screen (and possibly using a text on it) https://sites.google.com/site/vaisarger/my--scripts/mksplashimage (it depends on ...

Re: Problems with installation and VESA
About installation unsuccessful, this is always last GBI command (in the log file) : gpart add -s 37944M - t freebsd-ufs -i 1 /dev/ada0s4 ERROR Two notes: 1) Fourth slice is a FAT32 partition: it is not already UFS formatted 2) The only time I succeded in installing the system was for entire disk. (...

Re: would radeon card work if recompiling the kernel?
drmn.ko simply there isn't. There are "drm" and "drm2" instead, but loading latter and then loading radeonkms causes system to crash.

would radeon card work if recompiling the kernel?
Support for ATI radeon cards there isn't anymore. However, it's a pity reading in Xorg messages that radeon driver does support all those ATI card, but kernel compiled in "make.conf" with "NEW-XORG=YES" and "KMS=YES" uses radeonkms instead, that complains about a drmn.k...

Problems with installation and VESA
Hi! I unfortunately was not able to install system, but last try after whom I succeded; nevertheless I deinstalled eventually cause VESA problems. Let's be methodical. 1) First (old) machine X didn't start because VIA chipset do not support "in any way" VESA. No X, no GBI. 2) Second PC. An...

Two tips for GhostBSD installation
Hi! As I did with PC-BSD creator, I would thank Eric for his nice work, to make accessible FreeBSD power to desktop users. I tried to install GhostBSD in my machines, unfortunately I wasn't able to, but I will write a proper post in Install Forum section for that. For "Feedback" section, I...
